At the tail end of 2011Jubei isn’t one of the most outspoken artists in drum & bass. Content to let his music do the talking he’s one of the most consistent and in demand producers of the moment, with his music littering the sets of shining lights all across the board. Exclusively signed to Goldie’s Metalheadz imprint after releasing solo work and collaborations on labels like Shogun Audio, Renegade Hardware, Exit and Critical, amongst others, Jubei’s production skills are refined, measured and often deployed like stock from a well stocked armoury.

His Metalheadz debut, ‘Nothing Ventured Nothing Gained EP’ is a stark up to date mission statement, one that sets the tone perfectly for his debut artist album due on Headz sometime in 2012. On it his brittle drums are locked ceremoniously to the groove, there’s a little bit of that snarling bass work that makes a dancefloor quake at the topline and there’s a real sense of the cinematic; especially on tracks like ‘Alignment’ where he sets the atmospheric tone with a crystalline pad before obliterating it with that beat.
